Depositing compounds in the chemical library depository

  • Are you a researcher who would like their privileged compounds to be deposited in our chemical library?
  • The Center for Research and Education on Drug Discovery, offers services of storage and management of your precious deposited chemical library compounds.
  • If you have concerns related to chemical compounds management, please contact us.

Requirements for deposited library compounds

  • Chemical structure characterization.
  • Powdered form.
  • Solubility of at least 10 mM in in DMSO solvent.
  • Adequate quantity;

At least 2mg of the powdered compound, or 50μL of 10mM DMSO solution.

  • Accessible information.

Customized support must be requested for all anonymized compounds whose identity can not be revealed at the time of submission.

  • Clarification of responsibilities during the partnership.

Merits of depositing compounds

  • Diverse assays of biological activity of compounds.  (※1)

Both general-purpose and rare library screening systems are available.

  • Effortless management

Depositing compounds is less labour intensive and saves time for researchers since Hokudai-Center for drug discovery has a dedicated chemical library manager.  (※2)

※1:Sometimes submitted compounds may not be registered in the chemical library.
Low purity as well as decomposition which renders the submitted chemical formula not match the mass-
spectroscopic (HRMS) data, may not be registered.
※2:Depending on the state of the sample compounds, chemical formula and chemical analysis electronic data
         may be requested.

  • Research collaboration opportunities

The screener offers research collaboration opportunities exclusive to confirmed biologically-active compounds.

  • Efficient Data management

During screening, all information regarding the compounds is anonymized. Upon confirmation of bioactivity, the screener signs a pledge prior to chemical compound information disclosure by the depositor

Workflow from compound submission to chemical library enumeration

  1. Synthesis of the compounds to be submitted.
  2. Compounds are delivered to the “Hokudai Center for Drug discovery” and given a unique serial number.
  3. Chemical structures are drawn using Chemdraw etc.
  4. Compound (powder) is weighed in an Eppendorf tube.
  5. Compound is dissolved in DMSO to make a 10 mM solution.
  6. UPLC-MS is used to ascertain the purity and identity of the compound.
  7. Compounds that conform to UPLC-MS quality control standards are registered in the chemical library Database and stored.
  8. Compounds are submitted for screening

※Depending on the state of the compound, some steps may be omitted.
